Fabulous

Really pleased with the product and the fixing arrangement. Looks like a genuine beam in our kitchen !

Description

Enhance the character of your fireplace with one of our oak fascia beams

Oak fascia beams cut from well air dried oak beams. Shaped and sanded. Beautifully finished. Ideal for creating the appearance of a built in oak lintel.

Please note: oak is a natural product, therefore every piece will vary in appearance. The grain, colour, cracks and knots are what make our natural product unique. Our displayed colour samples are only guides, colours may appear slightly different due to the natural colours of the wood, the lighting and the type of screen you are looking at them on too. Also, air dried timber can develop further cracks over time, and the shape may alter through usage too. Dimensions stated are approximate only. Post machining, our dimensions are accurate to 1/2″. We will not accept any of the above as defects.

All of our shelving is made to order and professionally finished with a quality wood stain colour of your choice. There are nine shades to choose from, allowing you to perfectly select a colour that matches your home and aesthetic style.

Your chosen premium wood stain will penetrate deep into the wood, adding the chosen colour and a protective coat to your unique piece. Then we will further enhance your timber, with a coat of quality wax polish to further boost protection for the wood.

Our wood stains are available in white, light grey, dark grey, light pine, antique pine, medium oak, walnut, jacobean, and black. Offering this wide range of wood stain colour options means that our handcrafted shelves cater to those looking to bring a sense of tradition into their home, and those with more modern tastes.

Select a colour from the images displayed below to find a shade that best matches your home and aesthetic style. Are you a lover of minimalism and clean white aesthetics, or do you prefer earthy, natural tones throughout your home? We cater to every taste here at Handcrafted Shelves.

All of the colours shown above are to be used as a guide only. Due to using the natural materials of oak and pine, colour variation is expected. Your handcrafted shelf will be a focal point in whichever room you plan to display it in, being bespoke to your home means that it will naturally stand out from your other furniture items – made to order, made to stand out, not made to blend in.

Each shelf is coated and sealed for protection, but please always use a drink coaster to avoid water damage.

We are a British owned company and all of our products are made-to-order right here in the UK.

Our aim is to have every order complete, packaged, and ready to be sent within one week of receiving the order. However, this can take longer during busy periods (such as Christmas), due to the nature of each product being handmade to order. Do not hesitate to contact us for further clarification on your expected delivery if you have strict deadlines to adhere to.

An additional delivery fee will be applied at checkout, to cover the cost of the expert care that goes into packaging and delivering each item. Every shelf will be subject to thorough quality checks before being securely packaged ready for delivery. We take the utmost care in packaging your shelf, using heavy duty custom-made packaging to protect your bespoke item from any damage that could occur during transit.

UK Mainland Orders: delivery will cost £10+VAT.

Scottish Highlands and Islands: delivery to these areas may cost more, the difference is automatically applied at the checkout.

Your shelf will be delivered by a courier. We always use a 24-hour delivery service, via DHL or DX, depending on whether you are ordering to mainland UK or the Scottish Highlands or Islands. As soon as we have arranged for your item to be delivered we will provide you with tracking information – you’ll know where your shelf is every step of the way. A signature will be required upon delivery, unless instructions are provided as to a safe place to deliver your item. If delivery is unsuccessful, your courier may try to leave your shelf with a neighbour. Delivery slots are usually between the hours of 8:00am and 6:00pm.

Unless stated otherwise, we will dispatch your order as soon as it is ready. However, if you require a specific delivery date or have a unique delivery request, please get in touch so that we can do our best to meet your requirements.

Returns must be completed within 14 days of receiving your order. Simply post your unwanted item to us, including your order number and name, so we can efficiently process your refund. Unless the item was damaged in shipping, we are unable to refund the postal charge. We also will not accept any returns if the item has been used or installed. We are unfortunately unable to accept liability for incorrect installation, or damage caused by operator error during installation process.

Due to the nature of our products, being handmade to order, our typical dispatch estimate of 5-10 working days is a guide only. During busy periods, or for more bespoke products, this dispatch time may be longer. Hold back on hiring fitters until you have received your items.

You will receive updates when your order is being produced, and then again, once it has been shipped, along with tracking details.

We do offer most of our items in bespoke sizes. If you do not see your required size in our store, please get in touch and we will let you know what we can do.

Read our product descriptions for each individual product to find out what potential discrepancies there may be. Shelves may be up to ½” smaller due to machining and sanding.

Check the largest face for the concealed bracket holes. A 6”x4” beam will have the holes machined in a 6” side. If you require anything different, please let us know by adding a note in the checkout.

We have recently started offering shelves with plasterboard-compatible fixings, up to 15mm thick. Click here to see them.

Working with natural raw materials in a non-factory setting results in some aesthetic variation. It is impossible to make every single shelf a complete match, and you can be assured that any shelf you buy will be totally unique to your home.

As wood dries, it is likely to crack. We can select wood that initially has no cracks, but are unable to guarantee that it will stay that way as it acclimatises to your home. Our kiln dried oak range is unlikely to crack at all.

Unfortunately not. The wax and stains used are not waterproof. Please use coasters if placing cups or vases on our shelves, to reduce risk of stains. Wipe away all spillages at once.

Our shelves are not waterproof, so while we can provide a water-resistant lacquer on our kiln-dried oak shelves, which will protect shelves in damp conditions to some degree, this is not 100% waterproof, so you will need to wipe water away, if you decide to install the shelves in your bathroom.

In order for you to be able to mount your shelf yourself, with little assistance, we provide comprehensive instructions with each delivery. Please see the guides provided below to further understand how each type of shelf can be fitted.

For our floating shelves you will receive Hafele’s concealed shelf supports and holes will be pre-drilled in the back of your shelf, to make fitting your shelf easier to do.

You will be able to fit your shelf to stone, brick, breeze block and stud walls. Installation will vary depending on the type of shelf and the type of wall you are fitting it to. If you have any questions or concerns, prior to or after placing your order, please get in touch.
